An Away-Day in King’s Wood for University of Kent staff. This was run by Outdoor Studios artist Martin Brockman and designed to increase knowledge and understanding of Kings Wood – its ecology – natural and man made – and use the day to explore its specific materials and connected tools and techniques of exploration. Creation of a woodland palette of materials, particular to late summer/early autumn: chalk, clay, chestnut, osier, ash, oak , flint, also paper. Through demonstrations link the technology of these materials to construction skills.
